(she/her/hers)
My Background:
I have a Master’s degree in Social Work from Loyola University and am very passionate about my work as a therapist. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and was a teacher for ten years. The best part of my role as a teacher was the relationships I was able to build with students and their parents. However, after wanting a career change after becoming a mom myself, I knew I needed to focus my work on the perinatal community. Whether family planning, pregnancy, postpartum, or in the thick of parenthood, this is a unique and transformational stage in life that deserves deep understanding and compassion.
Why I’m a Therapist:
As a new mother, therapy helped me overcome mental health struggles that I was not expecting or even knew existed. Therapy had a deeply transformational role in my life, and perinatal mental health became my passion. I believe in the power of therapy to rewrite your story from a new perspective, and the amazing impact that it can have on creating a beautiful family. I look forward to hearing your story, understanding you and helping you achieve your goals. I aim to provide you with the safe, sacred space you need to heal, change, or simply be. I want to hear your amazing story and walk with you on your journey. Looking into beginning a therapeutic journey takes courage and I’m so honored to be a part of it.
Education, Training, & Specialization:
I am bilingual in English and Portuguese. I have a MSW from Loyola University and have completed internships and volunteer work at several non-profit organizations in the United States and internationally. I am certified in the Neurosequential Model of Therapy (NMT), which focuses on the impact of trauma on your brain and body, and uses tangible somatic solutions to lead you in your journey to healing. I’m currently undergoing training through Postpartum Support International to increase my education in perinatal mental health. I utilize strengths-based, trauma-informed, evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), narrative therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
