I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Social Work at Loyola University. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and was a teacher for ten years, teaching all subjects from preschool to middle school. The best part of the job was the relationships I got to build with students and their parents. However, after wanting a career change after I had my first son a couple of years ago, I knew I needed to work with other women in the perinatal period. As a new mother, therapy truly helped me overcome struggles that I was not even expecting. Therapy had a deeply transformational role in my life, and maternal mental health became my passion. I know what powerful and impactful stories parents have to share. I truly believe in the power of counseling to learn how to tell your story from a strength’s-based perspective and the amazing impact that it can have on creating a beautiful family. During my internship at Flourish Counseling, I look forward to understanding you and helping you achieve your goals. I aim to provide you with the safe space you need to heal, change, or simply be. I want to hear your amazing story and walk with you on your journey.
Education, Training, & Specialization:
I am bilingual in English and Portuguese. I expect to graduate from Loyola University in the Summer of 2024. My first internship in the social work field was at GirlForward, a nonprofit organization for refugee high school and college-aged girls.
