My Background
I bring a wealth of experience in supporting others to my counseling practice. In addition to my role as a therapist I work in higher education, and have spent the past seven years working with young adults experiencing personal crises and transitions. My previous educational history is diverse and I have degrees in theater, education, and am also completing a PhD in sociology. I am a lifelong learner and strive to continue to grow and learn in all that I do.
I am a relational and person-centered therapist who utilizes ACT and CBT. As a queer counselor, I value the ways that our identities shape our lives, and affirm my clients for the identities they hold. I am culturally informed, compassionate and have a great sense of humor.
Why I’m a therapist
I am deeply interested in people’s stories and lived experiences and hope to be a source of support for clients as they pursue healing and connection. I believe that my clients deserve to feel respected and valued.
I am also interested in working with individuals and couples navigating life challenges and transitions, and especially those who are navigating infertility, third-party reproduction, parenting, and perinatal counseling.
Education, Training & Specialization
I completed a Masters in Counseling from DePaul University in June 2024. Prior to this, I have completed 40 hour training in Domestic Violence Advocacy and 40 hour training in Sexual Assault Advocacy through ICASA. I have completed 40 hour Mediation Skills training through the Center for Conflict Resolution in Chicago. I have completed 30 hour training in crisis counseling from Crisis Text Line and am Mental Health First Aid certified.
