(she/her/hers)
My Background:
I am Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who specializes in trauma and perinatal health. During my combined adventure in parenting within academia, I developed a true passion for women’s health. I became active in reproductive and mental healthcare advocacy to aid in facilitating change on individual and community levels. Though this I found the amazing opportunity to becoming a birth doula. I was truly humbled and grateful to have holistically supported my clients during such a sacred and amazing journey. While in this role I developed a particular focus on birth trauma and recovery. I realized the importance of recognizing and validating the specific therapeutic needs and concerns for this population.
Why I’m a Therapist
Throughout life, we all can feel overwhelmed, lost, isolated, and in need of extra support and guidance. Too often we get stuck in the ‘shoulds’ and ‘coulds’ that can create self-doubt and feed our inner-critics. Seeking the help of a therapist is a significant act of self-compassion in starting a journey towards mental health wellness. I am honored to accompany and support them while we navigate recovery and healing as a team, exploring and identifying inner strengths and authenticity.
I provide a safe, inclusive space where all persons are welcomed and supported. I recognize and value each client’s unique lived experience, serving from a place of cultural humility and respect. With deep empathy, compassion, and full acceptance, I aid clients in tapping into their inner strengths for a therapeutic process that facilitates healing though empowerment.
Education and Training:
I have a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Roosevelt University, Chicago. I hold certifications in Perinatal Mental Health though Postpartum Support International, Trauma Care, and am EMDR Trained. Additionally I am a Nationally Certified Counselor. Previous trainings focused on mind-body connection, perinatal loss, attachment, ego state, substance use, mind-body connection, mood disorders, complex trauma, and multiculturalism. I have provided care in individual and group settings, including for outpatient, intensive outpatient, and partial hospitalization programs.
