Arianna Jamerson (she/her)

LPC, NCC

My Background:

Before deciding to enter the counseling field, a lot of my background was centered on connecting with people. I spent the bulk of my time at social media startups in Chicago, working for new and established brands to create real-time connections with their consumer base. This time of my career specifically focused on understanding people: their needs, wants, or their desires for change. That connectivity is something I cherished because I think everyone deserves to have their needs met.

Why I’m a Therapist:

As a counselor, I aim to continue to understand the needs of my clients, while shifting my focus to the empowerment of women and new mothers. We are a community that especially deserves it now, and I believe deeply in the power, ability, and protection of women.

Education &Training :

I have a Masters of Education with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from DePaul University. I studied undergrad at Marquette University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Writing and minored in Marketing and African American Studies. Previous experiences I’ve had that are in line with the community I aim to serve are volunteering with Chicago Survivors, The Glass Slipper Project, and Jack and Jill Inc, to name some. I also spend time donating to various charities that enable the protection of women, and education about pre and post-natal care, and I look forward to future certifications that focus on the specialization of Perinatal Mental Health.

Areas of Specialization:

I’m passionate about multicultural counseling, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, mindfulness techniques, Group work, Couples Therapy, Feminist and Person-Centered Theories (specializing in transitions to parenthood), transitions throughout life’s events, trauma work, anxiety, depression, building safety, and self-care plans. I love to meet my clients exactly where they’re at.
